Buying a Home?

Sometimes the right house will come along quickly. Other times, well, not so much.

A house will only ever feel like a home if:

  • the size is right for you and your family;
  • its style speaks to you;
  • the layout suits the way you live;
  • the neighbourhood suits your lifestyle; and
  • the commute to work and school is manageable.

Being a long-time resident of the West Island, I can help you zero in on the areas that might suit you best. I know the neighbourhoods, schools, transportation systems and local hang-outs. I doubt there’s a hockey rink or soccer field I haven’t visited.

And having an eye for staging helps me evaluate the true potential in a property. I can help you look beyond such things as tacky wallpaper, dated décor, strange room layouts and walls painted in colours best described as “surprising.”

But I know firsthand what happens when you buy a home that doesn’t match your needs, as you’ll see here.

So while I vow to work as quickly as possible to help you find the next house to call home, I also promise to give you all the time it takes to make sure it’s the right one.

“Your patience with us in the buying process has been saintly….you always managed to be the voice of reason and kept telling us not to worry we would find our home. …We did find our home and we could not be happier….”
O. & L.
No pressure. Not ever. I promise.

One more thing you should know about me: I’m a stickler for details. And that’s a good thing when we’re dealing with one of your biggest assets.

I have a background in research from my former life and a head for numbers, so when it comes to evaluating the price of a home, I’m not pulling a number out of a hat. My recommendations are based on solid analysis, so that we can make a reasoned offer with the best chance of success.

My approach to negotiation relies not on a heavy hand, but rather on reading people well, staying calm and focused, knowing my stuff, understanding human behaviour, and keeping the end goal in mind at all times. The extensive training I received in earning my Master Certified Negotiation Expert (MCNE) designation adds to my tool belt here.

These skills were honed in my career as a criminologist. They were key to my success whether I was negotiating with an inmate to finally enter drug rehabilitation or with the head of the correctional system to fund an international conference on corrections.

Patience. Knowledge. Analysis. Negotiation. Success.

And then you can get on to the next phase in your life.
